Wolves Compound Chelsea Woes @ Molineux, Pipped The Blues 2--1
By Olopade Sakiru
Chelsea continued their dismal outings this season with another disappointing loss to Wolverhampton at Molineux.
Though, Chelsea dominated proceedings in the early opening minutes, forcing the home side to adopt defensive play.
However, the Blues greatest undoing in the encounter was their inability to convert chances that came their way, against the run of play, in the 51st, Mario Lemina opened scoring for Wolves.
The goal brought out the best in Chelsea but they were wasteful to the disappointment of their teaming fans who trooped to Molineux to cheer them to victory at Christmas eve.
However, Matt Doherty punished Mauricio Pochettino's men in the added time when he doubled the home side lead, taking advantage of a poor clearance to slot home the second goal.
The introduction of Christopher Nkunku, who was making his debut for Chelsea, scored in the 96th minute but not enough to change the result of the game in favour of the Blues.
The Blues will play their next game against Crystal Palace next week without the services of Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling for bookable offense in their match against Wolves.
