The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, has on Thursday 16th November, 2023 demonstrated his love for honesty and integrity as he rewarded two Staff Members of the Local Government and others with cash gifts and promotion for the display of outstanding level of integrity and honesty in the conduct and discharge of their duties.
The Governor speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi at the award of excellence and gala night organised as part of the maiden edition of the Ogun State Local Government Service week held at the DLK event centre, Leme, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State, announced a cash reward of Six Hundred Thousand Naira for Mrs. Ayantayo Bilikisu Temilola, a retired deputy director of Nursing who returned an overpayment of similar amount paid to her before she retired from the service. He also directed that all her retirement benefits be paid immediately.
Amidst the grandeur of the award night, the Governor who commended the exceptional performance of the staff also awarded a promotion to the next grade level to Mrs. Morenike Craig, an Environmental Health Officer who wrote for a withdrawal of Promotion given to her in error. The promotion according to his Excellency, takes immediate effect, this equally does not affect her promotion in her next due date.
As a mark of recognition of their commitment and dedication to their duties, the Governor also announced an additional cash reward of One hundred thousand Naira for all the awardees in the various categories. The governor seized the occasion to reiterate his commitment to grassroot development which is evident in his recent approval for the employment of over 500 health workers and other categories of staff amidst other developmental initiatives at the local government level.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Ms Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo praised the ingenuity and candour of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, the Executive Governor of Ogun State in steering the ship of the State to the promised land.
The Chairman listed her achievements in office to include clearing of backlog of Promotion, production of handbook for staff, publication of gazette and recruitment of health workers and other categories of staff.
The Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON was presented with an award of recognition for being source of inspiration to the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission.
In the same vein, Local Government staffers who have demonstrated diligence and competence in the discharge of their duties as well as impacted positively on the larger societies were presented various categories of award.
The award of excellence and gala night signalled the end of the 2023 Local Government Service Week celebration which kicked off with a special feature on OGTV's New Dawn programme followed by Juma’at Prayer held at the the Federal Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Mosan on the 10th of November, 2023. The week continued on Sunday 12th November, 2023 with a special Thanksgiving service at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Ijebu-Ode. Medical outreach followed at four centres across the four sections of the state on Monday 13th November. Other activities include a public lecture held on Tuesday 14th November, Road Show and Novelty football match on Wednesday 15th November, 2023 at MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta. The Ogun State Local Government Service Week had as its theme, "A Renewed Local Government Service".
