YEWA SOUTH LG CHAIRMAN PRESENTS #17.971 BN " BUDGET OF REALITY" TO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

The Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barr. Abraham Babatunde Ogunsola, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, formally presented the proposed 2026 budget to the Legislative Council of the local government,
Tagged , “Budget of Reality,” the proposed budget is valued at ₦17.971 billion, representing a moderate increase compared to the 2025 budget.

A breakdown of the proposal shows that ₦2.102 billion has been allocated for capital expenditure, aimed at funding developmental projects across the local government, while ₦10.868 billion is proposed for Consolidated Revenue Fund Charges, accounting for 60 percent of the total budget size.
Presenting the budget, Chairman Ogunsola stated that the proposal reflects his administration’s firm commitment to financial discipline, accountability, and responsible governance. 
He explained that the budget framework was designed with realistic planning and clear prioritization, ensuring that the most pressing needs of residents are addressed within the limits of available resources.

The Chairman therefore appealed to members of the Legislative Council to give the proposal swift and thorough consideration, emphasizing that timely approval would enable the local government to advance its development agenda and sustain growth across the council area.
Responding on behalf of the Legislative Council, the Leader of the Legislative Chamber, Oladimeji Lukmon, assured the Chairman that the Council would subject the proposed budget to careful legislative scrutiny.
Hon. Lukmon stated that the Council’s deliberations would be guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and the overall interest of the people of Yewa South Local Government.
He further reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to maintaining a cordial and productive working relationship with the Executive Arm, noting that such cooperation remains vital for effective governance and accelerated development within the local government.
