Theme: “Learning from the Past, Serving the Present, Shaping the Future”
In its continued commitment to fostering unity, professional excellence, and renewed dedication among its workforce, the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has concluded arrangements for the 2025 Local Government Service Week — a week-long celebration designed to bring together staff, both serving and retired across the twenty (20) Local Government Areas of the State as well as the general public for reflection, and recognition.
The 2025 Service Week, themed “Learning from the Past, Serving the Present, Shaping the Future: A New Era of Responsive Local Government Service,” is scheduled to hold between Tuesday, 11th November and Thursday, 13th November, 2025.
The event will kick off with an inter-religious prayer session on Tuesday, 11th November, 2025, at the LGSC open premises by 10:00a.m. , to appreciate Almighty God for His protection and faithfulness over the years and to as well seek divine guidance and blessings for the success of the celebration.
This will be followed by a Public Lecture to be delivered by Comrade Akeem Olatunji Ambali, the Immediate Past President General of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE). The lecture, billed for Wednesday, 12th November, 2025, at the Obas Complex, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, by 9:00 a.m., will focus on strengthening professionalism, accountability, and innovation within the local government system.
In furtherance of the Commission’s vision to promote social bonding and cultural appreciation among its workforce, the day , from 2:00p.m.,will also feature a Cultural Evening, where staff from various zones across the state will showcase the rich and diverse heritage of Ogun State through traditional music, dance, artistic performances and local games competition.
The grand finale of the celebration will take place on Thursday, 13th November, 2025, at DLK EVENTS CENTER, Abiola Way, Abeokuta with red carpet, slated for 12:00p.m., while Award of Excellence and Gala Night is scheduled for 2:00p.m.at the same venue . The evening will honour outstanding individuals, local governments, and corporate organizations for their remarkable contributions towards enhancing the quality and efficiency of local government service delivery in the State.
The 2025 LGSC Week programme is expected to attract top government functionaries, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other eminent personalities from both the public and private sectors .
She further reiterated that the 2025 Service Week would serve as a platform to review institutional progress, exchange innovative ideas, and reinforce the values of integrity, diligence, and teamwork that define public service excellence. According to her, “As we learn from the past and serve the present, we are consciously shaping a future where Ogun State local government system becomes a model of efficiency and grassroots impact across the federation.”
