Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun CON, on Monday 18th November 2024 has Sworn-in 20 Local Government Chairmen and Vice Chairmen who emerged winners of the November 16 Local Government Elections in the state.
The Newly elected Chairman Abeokuta North Local Government Akomoje, Hon.Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo promised independent governance in the Local Government Area.
Earlier, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Abiodun expressed that Local Government is a closest tier of Government to the people to serving primary interface between citizens and governance and it is where the Government is directly felt.
He urged the newly elected Chairmen to approach deep sense of purpose, to be brand, administrative and to ensuring the restoration of Local Government glory. Said the State Government will not relent on her oars to give the LG the needed support to achieve the set objective before the LG; challenged them to uphold the vision of the State by serving all citizens regardless the tribe or political affiliation, to ensure equity, justice and fairness. Governor Abiodun tasked them further to implementing programs that will align with the ISEYA development Agenda; building infrastructures, surface of agriculture and for them to achieve this, the LG Chairman must embrace innovations to generate Internally Generated Revenue.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, held at the Local Government Secretariat ,Habeeb Ajayi Multi- Purpose Hall, the Executive Chairman Enjoined that all hands must be on deck to ensure betterment in the communities, while charging the members of staff in the LGA to buckle-down for the anticipated innovations in the LGA with the responsibility of serving the dwellers diligently and that his led- Administration would facilitate digitalization to dominate the statutorily analog activities which will create about 100 job opportunities for the youths in the LGA. He expressed that this would mirror to the residents in ANLG the importance of transparency, accountability and various of empowerments in the Area would be actualized.
Hon. OYEGBOLA-SODIPO further said in the statement that their would be an implementation of the elderly care initiative called "ETO ILERA ATI ITOJU AWON AGBA".
According to the Council boss, the fresh approach system will support and provide the senior citizens the healthcare services and monthly stipends.
He said on the recent position he found himself as a 'servant'; Hon. Oyegbola promised that out of his monthly salary , by the special grace of God, 50percent of the salary would be earmarked for the elderly people in Abeokuta North Local Government, starting immediately from November 18, 2024 , and was overtly demonstrated for an aged woman of 90 years,named Mrs. Janet Akamo who was given handsome cash and she has, at the same time been chosen to be the first beneficiary of the Healthcare initiative which the Executive Chairman ANLG, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo pledged to pay for a year.
He reiterated that Two-Thousand (2000) of age of Mrs. Akamo would be enrolled into the program, right from his assumption of duty.
He highlighted germane priorities for the new leadership in the LG and these include community developments, addressing infrastructure needs, and improving public services at the grassroots level.
He, however, used the opportunity to thank people of the Local Government for the mandate given to him added that the mandate is a signal of encouragement for him to contribute his immense quota to the development of the the LG while praying God for the enabling grace for him to live up and make up to the billing of his people in the LGA.
Head of the Local Government Administration in Abeokuta North Local Government, Mrs Kikelomo Munirat Ajayi who received newly sworn-in Executive Chairman into the Secretariat (ANLG) handed the activities of the LG to the Chairman thereafter conducted the Executive Chairman and Vice Chairman around the Secretariat
