EWEKORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORGANIZES IN-HOUSE TRAINING FOR ITS WORKFORCE

......Mrs Ogunyewo urges council staffers to make good use of the training to their own advantage and render top notch service delivery.

In continuation with the directive of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission on the training of members of staff to improve their skills, enhance their performance and productivity, the management of Ewekoro Local Government has organised A-Day training for the general staff of the Loca Government.

The thoroughly educative and informative lecture which was in three sections, with the topics carefully selected, focusing on the areas mostly needed by the workforce of the council.
Leading the packs of the resource persons was the most senior Director,Mrs Ogunyewo Kemi whose lecture was tagged," Emotional Balancing In The Face Of Economic Crisis In Nigeria"

According to Mrs Ogunyewo," there is no appropriate time to have this kind of lecture better than now , at a time this economic situation of the country directly affect the mental health of the citizens, hence the need for the topic to douse  the tension  amongst the Local Government staff."

She, therefore, reiterated the need for all members of staff to control and regulate their emotions, while advising them to always do things that would make them happy at all times and shun things that could affect their emotion negatively.
The astute administrator, urged council staffers to build a support network by surrounding themselves with positive and supportive people.

Mrs Ogunyewo, equally emphasized the need to prioritize physical and   emotional well being, break down large goals in achievable and manageable tasks.

She enjoined them to diversify their income by exploring alternative income sources, plan for the future through savings and investment.She concluded the lecture by recommending to the participants to always  employ health management, develop a relaxation and leisure strategies.
Delivering his own lecture, the Administrative Officer, Mr Akinwunmi 'Seye Solomon, took the participants through staff regulations where he discussed extensively on the topic, Understanding Staff Regulations/Public Service Rules On Leave and Promotion."

Mr. Akinwunmi gave an insight on the need to appropriately embark on leave as a matter of necessity, compulsory and take necessary procedural steps before embarking on leave.
He took time to highlight various types of leave that members of staff can embark on at a particular period. 

Speaking on promotion, the Administrative Officer, described promotion as policy designed to provide a clear transparent pathway for career progression, stressing that promotion is not only a reward for hard work but also means of ensuring that the Local Government retains competent and well motivated staff.
Another resource person, Mr. Sunday Sobola , in a highly engaging lecture with the topic, " Revenue Generation, Duties and Responsibilities Of Revenue Collectors In The Local Government.

Mr.Sobola , financial expert , provided explanation on the sources of Local Government revenue, both internal and external sources, duties and responsibilities of Revenue Collectors, stressing that all Local Government staffs are revenue collectors ; rapping up the lecture with measures that could be employed to increase revenue base and to prevent leakages of the Local Government revenue.
Earlier, in her opening remarks, the most Senior Director, Mrs Ogunyewo Kemi, expressed her gratitude to the Almighty God for making the In-house training a reality .
Speaking further, Mrs Ogunyewo appreciated other Directors/Heads Of department for their cooperation in  piloting the affairs of the Local Government without any rancour, while urging the participants to take advantage of the training to better the lots of the Local Government dwellers and let the training as well reflect on their efficiency.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman, Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees, Ewekoro Local Government branch, Comrade Abdulsalam Ibrahim, thanked the management, under the watchful eyes of Mrs Ogunyewo Kemi for the rare privilege giving to members of staff to broaden their knowledge.

" The purpose of the training and retraining of members of staff in an organization is to broaden their knowledge in their various field of operations. Comrades, i want to enjoin you all to see this retraining programme beyond the three papers treated today but rather let us see it as a call to reawake us to the new Local Government Service and preparation towards future challenges,"-- he stated.
The highpoint of the event was the playlet  presented as part of the lecture, tagged, Emotional Balancing In The Face Of Economic Crisis In Nigeria , which was a representation of the theoretical aspect of the lecture to give comical relief to the participants as means of dousing tension at the time of pressure as the topic enunciated.
