BOUNDARY DISPUTE: DELANO LAUDS IFO AND ADO/ODO OTA LAWMAKERS OVER BOUNDARY DISPUTE RESOLUTION EFFORTS

The Executive Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Kikelomo Aridunnu Delano has commended the collaborative efforts of legislators from Ifo and Ado-Odo Ota Local Governments towards resolving the lingering boundary dispute between the two Local Government Areas.

The commendation came during an historic joint plenary session held on Friday, March 1st, 2024, at the Ifo Local Government Council Legislative Chamber. 

The session is aimed to find an amicable solution to the longstanding boundary issue between the two Councils. 

Hon. Delano expressed her appreciation concerning the lawmakers' commitment to peaceful co-existence and development, stating that their efforts would foster unity and progress between the two Local Governments. According to her, the joint plenary session is a positive step towards resolving the boundary dispute and pave the way for further collaboration between the two Council Areas. 

The honourable Leader of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Olanrewaju Adeleye while receiving members of the Legislative Council of Ado/Odo Ota Local Government under the able leadership of Hon. (Mrs.) Bukola Omosowon Balogun said that the joint plenary session was the first one in the history of the two Local Governments since the two councils were created from the defunct Ifo/Ota Local Government in 1989, he expressed his gladness for the opportunity to hold the joint meeting. 

According to the Councillor from Ilogbo ward in Ado/Odo Ota Local Government, Hon. Adedokun Adeoye, the affected communities by the boundary dispute include Oniyonmo axis, Ijemo Tigbo Ilu axis and Mero axis of Ado/Odo Ota Local Government. 

His counterpart from Ifo Local Government representing Coker ward, Hon. Israel Adekunle Damilare said areas  being affected are, Onihale axis, Abule Oke Iyana Ilogbo axis and Iyana Igusi in Ifo Local Government 

The two legislative councils however, agreed to work together to find a lasting solution to the crisis. 

They appealed to the people of the affected areas to be calm and allow peace to reign and continue to co-exist while they find a peaceful and lasting solution to the pending issues. 

Present at the meeting were the Vice Chairman Ifo Local Government, Hon. Oladapo Adebesin, the members of Legislative Houses of Ifo and Ado/Odo Ota Local Governments, the Clerk of the two Houses and some senior career officers of two Council Areas.
