The Lagos Sheep and Goats Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ewekoro Local Government branch, has been assured of the local government maximum support in ensuring the success of the laudable initiative of the association.

The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa, who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon Olabode Sunkanmi Adegoke gave the assurance during the official foundation laying of LASHEGOFAN's farm Estate / Pen at the Olujobi village in Ewekoro Local Government.

" I assure you of the local government support because your initiative will definitely bring about employment, empowerment and other opportunities to our people at the grassroots." - - - the chairman affirmed.

Hon Adesina emphasized that there is no doubt that livestock farming add immensely to the gross domestic products (G. D.P.) of the Nigeria economy and with the way the world is changing, after technology, agricultural products, both crops and livestocks are the future dependence of the country.

According to the Local Government boss, Ewekoro local government is open for partnership with the association in bringing the council people on board to learn, invest, explore and be abreast of the benefits of the great initiative.

He used the occasion to beseech the association that while the government has pledged to give the maximum support within the council's capacity, the association should, equally ensure that whatever returns on the business activities that is due to government in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ogun State laws and Local Government bye law.

The council's helms man, revealing that Ewekoro Local Government has been the choice of many investors because of the economic friendly policies of the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, and the industrialisation and urbanization campaign for the development of Ewekoro local government, adding, " If you are looking for where to establish and invest, Ewekoro local government is the best destination, we are open for more developmental initiative of this kind which our people can equal benefit from."

Earlier in his welcome address, the President, Lagos Sheep and Goats Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ewekoro Local Government branch, Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, thanked the Executive Chairman, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa and his entourage for their time to be at the event, despite their very tight schedule, especially during the festive period.

According to Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, the ten acres farm land was acquired about two years ago for the purpose of establishing a model sheep/goats farm estate, conforming with the best practices all over the world.

" It is envisaged that when fully implemented, the farm will serve as a reference point not only for prospective sheep /goats farmers but even the government and for research purposes. The estate will serve as a dependable, verifiable and visible livestock cluster in the local government and the state at large. "---- he explained.

" We will provide sheep/goat animal market for the people of the area. Each unit will comprise of a farm house, the pen and the paddock where the animals can graze on. "---- he stated further.

The LASHEGOFAN President, Alhaji Ibrahim, therefore solicited for the chairman's support for the association to grow, stating that the request is born out of various challenges that the association has encountered in the past two years such as poor and difficult access road to the farm, menace of the fulanis and activities of the bandit / kidnappers.
