IFO LG CHAIRMAN, HON KUSIMO COMMENDS NCC ON ONE DAY SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME TO SCHOOLS, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

 By Dele Ogunyemi

The Executive Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, has commended the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for organising a one day sensitisation programme for students across the Local Government Area.
Speaking at the programme held on Tuesday, 27th October, 2026 at Ifo Town Hall, Hon. Kusimo described the initiative as a welcome development that would equip students with useful knowledge to help them make informed decisions and become responsible members of the society. He encouraged the students to share the knowledge gained with their families, friends and other members of their communities.

The Council Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving educational standards across Ifo Local Government. He explained that his administration had renovated several primary schools and produced desks and benches for distribution to schools. He also disclosed that the construction of a Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre within the Council Secretariat was ongoing.

According to him, the centre would provide secondary school leavers and other candidates within the Local Government with easier access to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations and other computer based tests, thereby reducing the stress and inconvenience associated with travelling outside the area to take such examinations.

Hon. Kusimo further advised the students to shun hooliganism, cultism, prostitution and other social vices capable of jeopardising their future. He urged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies, stressing the importance of responsible conduct in achieving success and becoming worthy ambassadors of Ifo Local Government.
Earlier, Mrs. Ruth Adigun, the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) for Ifo Local Government, who represented the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, also commended the NCC for organising the programme. She acknowledged the importance of initiatives that equip students with relevant knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
In his welcome address, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC Dr. Aminu Maida, represented by Mrs. Ijeoma Bassey, Assistant Director at the NCC Lagos Zonal Office, explained that the programme was designed to sensitise students and teachers on important issues, including Child Online Protection, Cybersecurity, Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the adoption of emerging technologies.
The programme also featured the presentation of booklets developed and printed by the NCC to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo. These booklets promote the dissemination of Child Online Protection and telecoms consumer literacy  information to students, teachers, parents and guardians. Digital copies were also given to all the schools present.
The event was attended by Secondary School Students from across the Council Area, Teachers, Local Government Officials and other key stakeholders in the education sector. It also featured a quiz competition, with prizes presented to the winners in recognition of their performance.

Accompanying the Chairman to the programme were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Bolanle Ojo; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Temitope Adegboyega; Supervisors; Special Advisers; Councillors; and other principal political functionaries and career officers of the Local Government.
