The Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barr. Abraham Babatunde Ogunsola, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development with the foundation laying ceremony of a block of 10 lock-up shops at Owode Market in the Ifekowajo axis of the local government area.
The project, flagged off on Tuesday, May 12, is aimed at boosting commercial activities and improving the economic fortunes of traders and residents within the axis.
Speaking during the ceremony, Barr. Ogunsola described the initiative as part of his administration’s determination to deliver meaningful democratic dividends to the people of Yewa South through strategic infrastructural development and economic empowerment.
According to him, the construction of the lock-up shops forms part of broader interventions designed to address infrastructural deficits affecting market operations and local commerce within the area.
He noted that the market development initiative aligns with the broader Yewa development agenda aimed at accelerating socio-economic growth across the entire Ogun West Senatorial District.
In his remarks, the Babaloja of Owode Yewa Market, Ojerinde Adebisi, commended the local government chairman for what he described as a timely and people-oriented intervention.
“The entire people of Ifekowajo axis are happy with this innovative project by Barr. Ogunsola. Projects like these are true examples of what democracy should represent to the people,” he said.
He added that the initiative reflects the expectations of citizens who participate in the democratic process and expressed appreciation to the local government for responding to the needs of the traders and residents.
Barr. Ogunsola, while addressing the gathering, attributed the success of the ongoing developmental projects across the local government to the support of the Dapo Abiodun-led Ogun State Government.
“All appreciation should go to Governor Dapo Abiodun for making funds available for these projects. Without the intervention and support of the state government, projects of this magnitude would have remained a dream,” he stated.
The chairman further assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of the people and sustain developmental projects across communities in the local government.
“We will not forget the people who entrusted us with this mandate. We are committed to serving diligently till the very last day of this administration and beyond, if permitted,” he added.
When completed, the 10-unit lock-up shops will further expand the growing list of infrastructural and economic projects executed under the Ogunsola administration with support from the Ogun State Government.
The administration has continued to implement people-focused projects across key sectors of the local economy as part of efforts to ensure that residents fully enjoy the dividends of democracy and improved standards of living.
