The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission has officially commenced its 2025 Service Week with a vibrant display of culture and colour, held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Commission’s open ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta
The event, which marked the beginning of a week-long celebration, reflected the Commission’s commitment to fostering unity, progress, and grassroots development while celebrating the State’s deep-rooted cultural heritage. Staff members from various Local Governments across Ogun State turned out in colourful traditional attires, showcasing diverse cultural dances and performances that reflected the State’s uniqueness and unity in diversity.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission appreciated the outstanding performances of the troupes representing the four zones of the State — Remo, Ijebu, Yewa, and Egba (RIYE). She commended their well-coordinated presentations, noting that the rich cultural displays and traditional tunes offered an impressive reflection of the State’s heritage and harmony.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Otunba Koye Martins Ijaduoye, expressed delight at the enthusiasm and participation of the staff, noting that the celebration was a testament to the vibrancy and cultural richness within the Ogun State Local Government Service. He commended the staffers for demonstrating creativity, joy, and a sense of belonging, adding that such expressions of culture foster harmony and motivation within the service.
The event also featured indigenous games and friendly contests among the staff, all radiating excitement and camaraderie throughout the gathering.
Speaking further, the Permanent Secretary of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, Engr. Olanike Ogunbona, FNSE, appreciated the participants for their commitment and spirited participation. She lauded the planning committee for organizing a successful cultural opening, urging all staff to sustain the unity and enthusiasm demonstrated.
Engr. Ogunbona further invited participants to continue their active engagement by attending the next day’s scheduled lecture at Crescent Muslim Hall, Leme, Abeokuta — another key highlight of the week-long programme.
The 2025 Service Year celebration continues through the week, promising a series of impactful events aimed at strengthening the Local Government Service’s dedication to excellence, cultural pride, and community development.
