OGUN LG SERVICE COMMISSION HAILS EWEKORO LG STAFF FOR DEDICATION TO DUTY

…As NULGE , Ewekoro Local Government Branch Honours Commission Chairman, Permanent Secretary for Outstanding Service

The Ogun State Local Government Service Commission has commended staff of Ewekoro Local Government Area for their steadfastness, discipline, and dedication to public service.

The commendation was delivered by the Commission’s Chairman, Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, represented by the Full-Time Commissioner I, Hon. Olufemi Lukmon Adiro, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona, FNSE, during an official tour of Ewekoro Local Government as part of the Commission’s ongoing visit to the 20 local governments in the state.

Hon. Adiro, speaking on behalf of the Chairman, conveyed the Commission’s satisfaction with the performance of Ewekoro’s management and workforce, noting that their conduct had been exemplary.

" PS is pleased, not only with your HOLGA but with the entire staff, based on the Chairman's encomium on both the HOLGA and other members of staff."

He further lauded the Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, for fostering harmony and ensuring a crisis-free administration.

Ms. Onabanjo, through her representative, emphasized the importance of punctuality and diligence among staff, describing the workforce as the backbone of the local government system.

" Local Government activities rest on you, without you, nothing can move forward."

She warned against truancy and lateness, urging officers to maintain discipline and to observe annual leave schedules to rejuvenate and provide opportunities for their subordinates to gain experience.

The Commission Chairman also advised staff to follow proper communication channels in their dealings with management, stressing that no staff member should bypass the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in order to reach the Chairman.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona, FNSE, commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adesina, for his support to staff welfare.

" You have a good and brilliant Chairman, and to whom much is given, much is expected. You must reciprocate the good gesture with dedication and commitment to your duties,"-- she charged.

While welcoming the visiting team, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, thanked God for the opportunity to present a performance appraisal of his local government’s workforce.

He praised the staff for their unwavering support and cooperation since his assumption of office, attributing the council’s achievements to their collective efforts.

" Our management team, led by the Acting HOLGA, is performing excellently well. Their tact and diplomacy in handling official duties have been commendable,"--he stated.

Hon. Adesina reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to align with the Commission’s policies to enhance service delivery at the grassroots. 

He also congratulated Ms. Onabanjo on her reappointment as Chairman for another term, praying for divine wisdom and guidance in her leadership.

The Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Sanitarian Ige Samuel, also congratulated the Commission’s leadership on their reappointment, noting that it was a result of their remarkable achievements during their first tenure.

He praised the Commission for prioritizing the welfare and career progression of workers, with the support of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON.

" Under your watch, deserving workers were confirmed and promoted as and when due,"--he said 

Sanitarian Ige also expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun for his consistent support for local governments through prompt payment of salaries, financial interventions, and policies that have boosted internally generated revenue, enabling councils to execute key projects across wards.

He commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adesina, for his leadership and commitment to grassroots development, describing him as a model of resilience and vision

Responding to some of the requests presented by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ewekoro Branch, through its Chairman, Comrade Abdulsalam Ibrahim, the Permanent Secretary clarified that some issues raised were beyond the Commission’s immediate authority.

She explained that the pension scheme is under the jurisdiction of the state government but assured that efforts are ongoing to address challenges within the system

Engr. Ogunbona also urged workers to plan early for retirement by saving toward their pension and commended Governor Abiodun for ensuring prompt salary payments and timely promotions.

On the National Housing Fund (NHF), she noted that the Commission would liaise with the state NULGE to secure greater access to NHF loans for local government workers.

The event climaxed with an award presentation by NULGE, Ewekoro Local Government Branch, in recognition of outstanding service and leadership.

Ms. Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo received the award of “Epitome of Humanity,” while Engr. Olanike Olawunmi Ogunbona, FNSE, was honoured with the award of “Mother of NULGE

The colourful ceremony reflected the appreciation of Ewekoro workers for the Commission’s continued efforts to enhance welfare, motivation, and professionalism across Ogun State’s local government system.
