 ...... Hon Adesina describes Ramadan Period as the one both poor and the rich are levelled in total submission to the course and will of Allah.

The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa who spoke through the Vice Chairman, Hon Olabode Olasunkanmi Adegoke has reiterated the need for the Muslim brothers and sisters as supported by the Holy Quran, Chapter 11, Verse 183, that says, " O ye who believe ! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was presented to those before you, that ye may learn restraint. "

The statement was made during the 3rd Annual Ramadan lecture, organized by the Ewekoro Local Government Muslim Staff Community, held at the Local Government Secretariat, Itori.

Hon Adesina, further described  Ramadan Period as the one when alms are given to the needy for peaceful co--existence and for the people to have samples and references on the existence as well as lifestyle of human being as revealed to the leader of mankind, the Noble Prophet Muhammad by the Holy Quran.

According to the Local Government Boss, the 3rd Annual Ramadan Lecture with the theme : The Modern Day Muslim : Establishing Consciousness and Piety  is aimed to sensitize Muslims and to let them know that despite the advent of civilization and modern day inventions, people should not be misled by worldly things but rather remain devoted and follow the teachings of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SWT) and the will of Almighty Allah.

The Council's helmsman, therefore, seized the opportunity to emphasize the commitment of the Ogun State Government under the amiable leadership and Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, over the distribution of palliatives during this period of fasting to cushion the effect of the economic hardship ravaging the country, adding, " The Government of both the state and Local Government levels are seriously working to make our people smile again."

Hon Adesina, also extended his appreciation to the entire Ewekoro Local Government staff, both christians and especially, the Muslim Hummas for organizing the Ramadan Lecture.

He , equally appreciated the executive members, legislators and the management team of Ewekoro Local Government for their support in making the program a successful one.

Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman, planning committee, Comrade Agbeniga Akeem, described the Executive Chairman, Ewekoro Local Government, Hon Adesina Sikiru Adisa as being the light of Islam since inception of his administration.

" The exemplary leadership character of our chairman has not only taken this Local Government to an enviable height but has helped to propagate Islam, among his subjects. This is evident in the previous Ramadan Programmes in which Ewekoro Local Government always organize two public lectures during every Ramadan Period.

Comrade Agbeniga, warmly welcomed all the political functionaries, both the legislators and the Executive members as well as the Head of Local Government Administration, Engr.(Mrs)Ogunbona Olanike O, who was the host of the event and all other versatile Director/Head of Departments.

Welcoming the guest speaker, a reputable scholar, Fadeelatul Calipha Sheik Akinboyede Abdulwasii, the planning committee chairman, disclosed that the entire staff of Ewekoro Local Government usually gather at every Ramadan to purify their souls, celebrate and honour the commandment of Allah , irrespective of religion affiliation and to specially pray for the progress and development of the nation, Nigeria.

He implored Muslim brothers and sisters, all other christian faithful to use the opportunity to pray fervently for the security of Nigeria and not to forget the economic prosperity of the nation.

Delivering the lecture titled, The Modern Day Muslim: Establishing Consciousness and Piety, the guest lecturer, a seasoned scholar, Fadeelatul Calipha Sheik Akinboyede Abdulwasii ( Olanase) , stressed that the topic could not be exhausted as it has to be a continuous discussion due to the fact that the topic encompasses every and major aspect of human endeavors, saying, that any house hold that fails to take cognizant of the topic will not be an ideal family as well as any Community or society that is found wanting, will not be a successful one.

Sheik Akinboyede Abdulwasii, explained that everything, including human being is created by Allah with Piety and they are expected to end in piety for them to be candidates of paradise ( Al Jannah)

The renowned scholar, therefore, reiterated the importance of consciousness, which according to him will play major role in strengthening piety in people's daily dealings.

He said,it  is  mandatory for people to work on their consciousness, by accessing themselves and their daily activities to check if they are still in tuned with the commandments of Allah.

" Therefore, for you to qualify to be a true believer, it is expected of you to exhibit fear of Allah at all times in all your dealings with human being or in your actions, avoid back biting, vulgar language and show of mercy unto the needy, not only at the Ramadan Period."---- Sheik Akinboyede stated.
