IPOKIA LG STRENGTHENS EMERGENCY RESPONSE AS COUNCIL CHAIRMAN PLEDGES COLLABORATION WITH FIRE SERVICE, RED CROSS

The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening emergency preparedness and humanitarian service delivery through enhanced collaboration with key emergency response agencies operating within the council area.

Speaking on Thursday, 16 July 2026, while receiving the newly posted Area Commander of the Ogun State Fire Service, Ipokia Command, Engr. Owolabi Oluwadare, and the Divisional Coordinator of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ipokia Local Government Branch, Red Crosser Oladele Meshach Oyemade, during separate courtesy visits at the council secretariat, Hon. Avoseh disclosed that the Fire Service would be engaged to organize practical fire prevention and firefighting training for workers of the local government. 

He noted that equipping staff with essential emergency response skills would enhance safety within government facilities and the wider community.

The council chairman commended Engr. Owolabi for the visit and reiterated that effective governance thrives on strong inter-agency cooperation.

 He emphasized that government institutions within the council area must continue to work in harmony to protect lives and property. 

In his remarks, the new Area Commander assured the chairman of the Fire Service's readiness to partner with the local government, providing a comprehensive overview of the command's operations and expressing his commitment to delivering efficient and professional fire safety services across Ipokia.

During his visit, the Divisional Coordinator of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oladele Meshach Oyemade, appealed for the council's support to strengthen the humanitarian activities of the organization. 

His requests included office accommodation, partnership in community-based programmes, logistics and operational assistance, capacity-building initiatives, youth and school engagement programmes, as well as annual budgetary support to improve the society's effectiveness in responding to emergencies and community needs.

Responding, Hon. Avoseh praised the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its longstanding humanitarian contributions and life-saving interventions, describing the organization as an indispensable partner in community development and disaster response. 

He assured the coordinator that the local government would carefully consider the requests with a view to supporting initiatives that would further enhance the welfare and safety of residents.
