YEWA SOUTH LG DISMISSES BANDITRY REPORTS, CONFIRMS COMMUNITIES SAFE AFTER AMOTEKUN INVESTIGATION

The Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barr. Abraham Babatunde Ogunsola, has debunked widespread reports alleging that bandits attacked communities within the local government area and forced schools to shut down, describing the claims as false and misleading.

Reacting to the reports which circulated on social media and in parts of the council area, the Chairman said the Local Government immediately contacted the Ogun State Amotekun Corps to conduct a comprehensive investigation across the affected communities and border areas.

According to him, security operatives carried out extensive surveillance and verification exercises in Ajilete, Ilaro, Ijoun, Idofa, Eggua, Ilase, and other adjoining communities. The investigation, he noted, confirmed that there was no bandit attack, no casualty, and no security breach anywhere within Yewa South Local Government.

Barr. Ogunsola reassured residents that the local government remains peaceful and secure.

"I want to assure our people that Yewa South is safe and peaceful. The Amotekun investigation has clearly shown that the information being circulated was a false alarm. There is no cause for panic," he stated.

The Chairman commended the swift intervention and professionalism of the Police Area Commander, Ilaro Area Command, the Divisional Police Officers of Ilaro and Owode Divisions, the Ogun State Amotekun Corps, and other security agencies for their prompt response and vigilance.

He particularly praised the immediate deployment of patrol teams across communities in the local government to reassure residents and maintain public confidence.

Barr. Ogunsola also expressed appreciation to traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders for their cooperation in verifying facts and helping to prevent the spread of misinformation.

While urging residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, he warned against the dissemination of unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear and tension.

"Rumours can cause more damage than the incidents they falsely portray. I appeal to residents to verify information through the Council or relevant security agencies before sharing it," he added.

The Chairman further disclosed that the Local Government, in collaboration with the Ogun State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, CON, remains committed to strengthening security architecture through enhanced patrols and community policing initiatives to sustain peace and safety across Yewa South.

Residents have been advised to continue their daily activities without fear and to promptly report any suspicious movements or security concerns to the nearest Amotekun post, Police Station, or the Council Secretariat.

"Yewa South remains peaceful. We are safe. Let us all work together to preserve that peace," the Chairman concluded.
