The Executive Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful in Ewekoro Local Government Area and across Ogun State as they celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a goodwill message released by the Council's Director of Information, Mr. Olopade Sakiru, to commemorate the festival, the Chairman described Eid-el-Fitr as a moment of gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the strength, patience and spiritual discipline required to observe the thirty days of fasting, prayers and acts of charity as prescribed in the glorious Qur’an and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Hon. Adisa noted that Ramadan is a sacred period that teaches Muslims the virtues of self-restraint, sacrifice, compassion for the less privileged and total submission to the will of Allah.
He urged the faithful not to abandon these noble virtues after the fasting period but to allow them guide their daily conduct and interactions with others.
The Council Chairman also called on residents to celebrate the festival with moderation, especially in view of the prevailing economic challenges facing the nation.
According to him, Eid-el-Fitr should be a period of reflection, gratitude and sharing, rather than excessive spending or extravagant celebrations.
He further encouraged Muslims and other residents of the local government to extend love and support to neighbours, the needy and the vulnerable in society, stressing that acts of kindness and charity remain central teachings of Islam and vital ingredients for a harmonious community.
Hon. Adesina equally appealed to motorists and road users to exercise utmost caution during the festive period.
He urged drivers to avoid reckless driving, obey traffic regulations and ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians while travelling to celebrate with family and friends.
The Chairman also advised residents to drink responsibly and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the moral discipline imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan.
He emphasized that the celebration should remain peaceful, orderly and devoid of any act capable of disturbing public peace.
While praying for continued peace, unity and prosperity in Ewekoro Local Government and Nigeria at large, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa wished all Muslim faithful a joyous and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Mubarak celebration, praying that Almighty Allah accepts their fasting, prayers and good deeds.
