ODEDA LG HOSTS GRAND 2025 CHRISTMAS CAROL, THANKSGIVING, YOUTH STAFF CELEBRATION

Odeda Local Government Secretariat came alive with joyful melodies, gratitude, and celebration as the council held its 2025 Christmas Carol and End-of-Year Thanksgiving Service, marking a memorable moment of reflection and unity among staff, residents, and invited dignitaries.

Delivering her keynote address, the Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Waliat Folasade Adeyemo, PhD, warmly welcomed all guests, staff members, and well-wishers to the annual celebration. She described Christmas as a divine season of peace, love, and unity, emphasizing its profound spiritual significance. Dr. Adeyemo commended the Christmas Carol Planning Committee for their dedication and applauded the entire workforce for their loyalty, steadfastness, and exemplary service throughout the year.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Sobukanla Olukayode, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the council’s leadership under Dr. Adeyemo for her motherly care and unwavering support. He extended commendations to the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Oyekunle Adebayo, for his commitment and selfless service, while appreciating the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Oluwole Fateru, Directors of Departments, and committee members for their tireless efforts.

“As we sing, dance, and celebrate, this gathering reminds us that thanksgiving is an integral part of our faith, and we must continually uphold the true spirit of the season,” he noted.

While delivering the exhortation, Pastor Asubiojo Oluwasegun stressed that for God’s grace to multiply in the lives of believers, they must remain joyful and grateful. He reminded the congregation that the birth of Jesus Christ brought joy, light, and salvation to humanity, urging all present to embrace the essence of the season.

Giving the closing remarks, the HOLGA, Mr. Oluwole Fateru, expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Adeyemo for prioritising staff welfare and for her unrelenting support toward the success of the carol and thanksgiving service. He also thanked the Secretary to the Local Government, Legislative Members, Directors, and the entire staff for their cooperation and commitment.

Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, December 10, 2025, the youth staff of Odeda Local Government added color and excitement to the Secretariat as they organized a vibrant Christmas Carol celebration that attracted staff and distinguished guests.

In his remarks at the youth-led event, HOLGA Mr. Fateru Oluwole Olakunle expressed sincere appreciation for the collective effort that made the celebration a success. He announced that such gatherings would now hold quarterly, stressing the need for teamwork, punctuality, and renewed dedication to duty.

As part of the ceremony, cash prizes were awarded to Mr. Kolawole and Mrs. Michael Olayinka in recognition of their outstanding performance and service to the council.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Local Government and Chairman of the Christmas Carol Planning Committee, Mr. Oyekunle Adebayo Oluwagbenro, JP, who commended the youth organizers for an impressive outing and pledged to make subsequent editions even more remarkable. Others present included the Director of General Services and Administration, Mr. Oyekan Johnson Akanbi, and the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Odeda Local Government, Mr. Muftau Akanni.

The youth staff of Odeda Local Government were widely applauded for hosting a colourful and impactful event that showcased unity, cooperation, and the true spirit of the festive season .
