Red Devils Triumph @ Anfield : Manchester United Stun Liverpool 2-1 In Fiery Premier League Clash

 By Olopade Sakiru

Manchester United earned a landmark 2–1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday — their first league win there in nearly a decade. Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire sealed a statement result for Rúben Amorim’s side, ending Liverpool’s recent dominance in one of English football’s fiercest rivalries.

The game started in breathtaking fashion as United struck within two minutes. A misplaced pass from Liverpool’s defence was pounced upon by Bryan Mbeumo, who calmly slotted past Georgi Mamardashvili to silence the Red . The early goal rattled the hosts and sparked protests after Alexis Mac Allister appeared injured in the build-up, though play was allowed to continue.
Liverpool regrouped and began to control possession, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah testing United’s shape. However, United’s defence — marshalled by Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt — stood tall, clearing danger after danger.  Luke Shaw worked tirelessly down the flanks to block Liverpool’s wide threats, keeping United in front at the break.
After halftime, Liverpool ramped up the intensity. Their persistence was rewarded in the 78th minute when Cody Gakpo reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box and drilled in the equaliser. Anfield erupted, sensing a trademark late turnaround as Amorim’s men appeared momentarily shaken.
But United responded with the composure of champions. Just six minutes later, captain Bruno Fernandes swung in a teasing corner that found Maguire, who rose highest to head home powerfully and restore United’s lead. The goal sparked wild celebrations among the travelling supporters and underlined the defender’s resurgence this season.
Liverpool pushed desperately for another equaliser, with Salah  going close. Amorim introduced Leny Yoro late on to bolster the backline, and the teenager impressed with his calm defending in added time. United’s resilience shone through, as they absorbed Liverpool’s pressure to close out a famous victory.
The win lifts Manchester United’s confidence and eases pressure on Amorim after a rocky spell, while Liverpool’s fourth straight league defeat raises serious questions about their rhythm and defensive frailties. For United, this was not just three points — it was redemption at Anfield and a reminder that the Red Devils are finding their feet again.
