Following the sad incident which occurred at Obada area of Imeko Afon Local Government yesterday, that led to the loss of the life of late Kazeem Akinwunmi and left several others injured, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Theophilus Aremu Olorode has commiserated with the families of the victims of the fateful incidence.
A statement issued by the Office of the Executive Chairman reads: "It is with sadness and a sense of great loss I received the report of the injuries sustained by our people, most especially the disheartening news of the loss of one of our dearest young men in the heated fracas."
The Council helmsman strongly condemns the incidence, which ensued between Officers of the Nigeria Custom Service and the aggrieved youths of the town, stressing that both parties could have achieved resolutions to issues without posing dangers to the precious lives of people and destruction of valuable properties.
Hon. Olorode however promised to look critically into the remote and immediate causes of the untold loss and gave his words of assurance specifically, to indigenes of Obada town and the Local Government at large, that the maximum security of their lives and properties will be his topmost priority.
"Such avoidable incidences would be forestalled in subseqent times. I wish everyone who sustained various degrees of injury a speedy recovery and pray for the departed soul to find peace in the bossom of the Almighty God. May the family he also left behind, find strength in God to bear the irreparable loss and pain," the Chairman added.
