IFO LG HEALTH AUTHORITY ORGANISES CHOLERA ENLIGHTENMENT CAMPAIGN AT IFO MARKET

In a bid to sensitize the residents of Ifo and its environs on the  dangers portend by the pervading Cholera outbreak and to avert further spread at the grassroot level, the Health Authority, Ifo Local Government under the able leadership of Dr. Olalekan Oke, the Health Secretary, has organized a cholera enlightenment campaign at Ifo Market, a major commercial hub in the Council Area. 

The Health Secretary, who was full of appreciation to the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Kikelomo Delano for giving speedy approval to the campaign, also commended her for giving her full backing to all the activities of the Health Authority. 

The campaign held on Thursday 18th July, 2024, was aimed at educating  traders, shoppers, and residents on the dangers of cholera and how to prevent its spread. 

The campaign featured interactive session, distribution of educational materials, and demonstrations on proper handwashing and hygiene practices. 

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Funke Omotosho, the Head of Health Education department emphasized the importance of clean water sources, proper waste disposal, washing of fruits before eating and prompt reporting of suspected cholera cases to the appropriate health facilities near them.

She also reiterated the government's commitment in ensuring public health and safety.

The event was well attended by stakeholders such as market leaders,   Babaloja of Ifo market, Alhaji Lateef, Iyaloja general, Mrs. Taiwo Akinsola amongst many others who expressed their appreciation for the initiative.
