Scott McTominay's brace was all Manchester United needed to pick the maximum three points against Chelsea at Old Trafford. It was a game the Red devils needed badly after Saturday's loss at Newcastle.

The Erik Ten Hag men were in no joke mood, as United were raiding Chelsea's defence at will, no wonder at exactly 7th, the Blues conceded a penalty after Enzo Fernandez's challenge on Anthony but the resultant penalty was wasted by Bruno Fernandez.
Manchester united continued to push forward, in the 19th minute, McTominay was on course to register the opening goal when he pulled the trigger from the rebounce after Maguire's shot was blocked.
However, in the last minute of the first half, Cole Palmer in a solo effort unleashed a low shot past Andred Onana to restore parity in the encounter.

At the resumption of the second half, Chelsea were more determined to leave Old Trafford with a decent result but United were equally up to the task until 69th minute when McTominay was on song again, with a blistering header from Alejandro Garnacho's cross to register the second and winning goal for the home team.
Manchester United will return to action on Saturday in the Premier league as they take on Burnemouth while playing their final champions league group game at home against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
