IGP Joins Rivers Governor for Commissioning of State-of-the-Art Tactical Operations Centre in Port Harcourt

IGP Alkali Baba attends commissioning of Police Tactical Operations Centre in Rivers State

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, joined Rivers State Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, in Port Harcourt for the commissioning of the Police Tactical Operations Centre (PTOC) on Friday, May 26, 2023. Gov. Wike spearheaded the construction of the PTOC, which boasts modern facilities designed for effective investigations and tactical operations.
The objective of the PTOC, which meets the specific needs of Rivers State, is to serve as a hub for intelligence gathering and dissemination, as well as to facilitate deployments tailored to effectively tackle armed robbery, kidnapping, and other crimes of violence in the state.

The Inspector-General of Police commended Gov. Wike for his continued commitment to reforming and enhancing operational structures within the police force in Rivers State. IGP Alkali Baba charged the Commissioner of Police in charge of Rivers State to ensure optimal utilization of the centre to combat criminal activities, emphasizing the need to make the state safe for residents and visitors.
IGP Alkali Baba also seized the opportunity to reiterate the readiness and commitment of the Police Force to adopt a community and ICT-based policing approach. The goal is to integrate all members of society into a comprehensive security system aimed at achieving improved public safety throughout Nigeria.
